Determination of goat’s milk in sheep’s milk.

GENERAL INFORMATION:Higher priced milk with limited seasonal availability is commonly and fraudulently adulterated with milk with lower price from other species like goat. Adulterated milk either used in direct human consumption or in cheese manufacture (like feta which is Protected Designation of Origin, PDO) results in a final product inferior to that expected by the consumer. Due to unknown milk mixtures changes occur in the final sensory characteristics and quality. In addition, Goat’s milk (GM) or Goat Cheese (GC) is associated with a rare allergy disorder. Nevertheless, Goat milk can induce allergic reactions and must be declared as an ingredient on food labels. This certain Elisa kit can be used to detect and quantify the presence of Goat milk, in Sheep’s or goat ‘s or buffalo milk. Milk adulteration can be detected by chromatography, electrophoresis. These methods are toilsome and have need of highfalutin equipment. Consequently, they are of limited value in usual screening of milk.
