Swinecheck® Brachyspira hyodysenteriae qPCR

GENERAL INFORMATION:Brachyspira are anaerobic spirochaetes that infect the large intestine of humans and many animal species. The Brachyspira genus comprises ten species. B. hyodysenteriae is the most important pathogenic Brachyspira species in pigs. It is causing the so-called “swine dysentery” which is responsible for significant economic loss in affected farms. Bacteriological culture is the “gold standard’’ technique to diagnose B. hyodysenteriae infection. However, it is tricky and reserved for specialized laboratories. More recently, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays have been developed allowing to more easily detect B. hyodysenteriae and to differentiate if from other swine Brachyspira species such as B. innocens, B. pilosicoli, B. murdochii, B. hampsonii, B. suanatina and B. intermedia. Swinecheck® B. hyodysenteriae qPCR is intended to detect and/or quantify B. hyodysenteriae in various samples from swine such as feces or oral fluids.

SUMMARY AND EXPLANATION:Swinecheck® B. hyodysenteriae qPCR contains a FAM labeled probe for the specific identification and quantification of B. hyodysenteriae with a smaller background and a more powerful signal than traditional combinations. This kit provides every component of the qPCR reaction (buffers, enzyme, dNTPs, specific primers and probes for the pathogen and an endogenous amplification control). B. hyodysenteriae genome amplification will be detected through FAM channel at 530 nm. This kit can also identify false negative results by measuring the endogenous amplification control (EAC) fluorescent signal through CY5 channel. A synthetic B. hyodysenteriae Positive Control is provided for relative and absolute quantification.
