Swinecheck® Brachyspira hampsonii qPCR

GENERAL INFORMATION:humans and many animal species. The Brachyspira genus comprises ten species. B. hampsonii has been isolated from pigs with mucohaemorrhagic diarrhea, and experimental infection with B. hampsonii strains has consistently resulted in clinical disease and gross lesions that are similar to, if not indistinguishable from those caused by B. hyodysenteriae, the classical agent responsible of swine dysentery. Bacteriological culture is considered as the ‘gold standard’ technique to diagnose B. hampsonii infection. However, it is tricky and reserved for specialized laboratories. More recently, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays have been developed allowing to more easily detect B. hampsonii and to differentiate it from other swine Brachyspira species such as B. innocens, B. pilosicoli, B.murdochii, B. hyodysenteriae, B. suanatina, and B. intermedia. Biovet Brachyspira hampsonii oneMIX is intended for the detection and/or quantification of B. hampsonii in various samples from swine such as feces or oral fluids.

SUMMARY AND EXPLANATION:Biovet Brachyspira hampsonii oneMIX contains a FAM labeled probe for the specific identification and quantification of B. hampsonii with a smaller background and a more powerful signal than traditional combinations. This kit provides every component of the qPCR reaction (buffers, enzyme, dNTPs, specific primers and probes for the pathogen and an endogenous amplification control) already mixed in one tube. B. hampsonii genome amplification will be detected through FAM channel at 530 nm. This kit can also identify false negative results by measuring the endogenous amplification control fluorescent signal through HEX or VIC channel. A synthetic B. hampsonii positive control is provided for relative and absolute quantification.
