Description
The Real Time PCR Detection Kit Microsporum canis complex comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Microsporum canis complex detection by using qPCR.
GENERAL INFORMATION:The Microsporum canis complex consists of one zoophilic species, M. canis, and two anthropophilic species, M. audouinii and M. ferrugineum, which are filamentous fungi of the family Arthrodermataceae. These fungi are dermatophytes and are primarily responsible for causing dermatophytosis.
Microsporum canis mainly affects cats and dogs but can be transmitted to humans by direct contact with infected animals or contaminated surfaces. Clinical manifestations include tinea capitis, tinea faciei and tinea corporis. Tinea capitis often presents with a severe inflammatory reaction characterised by pruritic, scaly areas of alopecia. In contrast, M. audouinii and M. ferrugineum are usually transmitted by direct contact with infected humans and cause primarily tinea capitis with limited inflammation, presenting as scaly, erythematous patches associated with hair loss on the scalp or skin. These fungi have a worldwide distribution with a higher prevalence in warm and humid regions.
KIT CHARACTERISTICS:
Assay Mix Target composed by singleplex mixtures of specific forward/reverse primers and probe.
- Resuspension buffer
DNase/RNase free water
- (OPTIONAL) Internal Control Assay Mix
- Mastermix solution
- Positive control
