GENERAL INFORMATION:Pathogens pose significant health risks to global swine populations, impacting various organs. Mycoplasma hyosynoviae causes infectious arthritis in pigs, resulting in acute lameness. Haemophilus parasuis, linked to Glasser’s disease, exhibits rapid onset and high mortality. Mycoplasma hyorhinis, found in pig respiratory tracts, is associated with arthritis and polyserositis. Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae leads to porcine enzootic pneumonia, causing weight loss and economic losses. Pasteurella multocida triggers diseases like fowl cholera and atrophic rhinitis in mammals and birds. Porcine circovirus type 2 is implicated in various conditions including systemic, respiratory, enteric diseases, porcine dermatitis and nephropathy syndrome, and reproductive issues. The novel Porcine circovirus type 3 is linked to reproductive problems and multisystemic inflammation. Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, another respiratory pathogen, causes pleuropneumonia with high mortality. Streptococcus suis infects pigs, leading to severe infections across multiple organs. Bordetella bronchiseptica infects the respiratory tract of pigs and other mammals, potentially causing severe respiratory illness. Several Leptospira species are identified as pathogenic, significantly impacting economic output, productivity, and animal welfare in swine industries.
