It is a Real Time PCR kit to detect and quantify Influenza A virus, M. hyopneumoniae, M. hyorhinis and G. parasuis
GENERAL INFORMATION:The porcine respiratory disease complex (PRDC) is the most important health concern for swine producers. The syndrome involves both bacterial and viral pathogens including, among others, Influenza A viruses, Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae, Mycoplasma hyorhinis and Glaeserella parasuis. Influenza A viruses are important pathogens with a very broad host spectrum including swine, poultry and human. They affect pigs of all ages and are causing both epizootic and enzootic infections. These viruses are classified in subtypes. The most common subtypes of swine influenza viruses are H1N1, H1N2 and H3N2. M. hyopneumoniae is the etiological agent of Porcine Enzootic Pneumonia. This agent affects mostly the growing and finishing pigs resulting in persistent cough and growth retardation. M. hyorhinis and Glaeserella parasuis are causing polyserositis in growing piglets. They are commonly found in PRDC acting as an exacerbating or facilitating agent. Detection of these organisms by bacterial culture or virus isolation is possible but requires special skills, is time consuming and has low sensitivity. Detection of these organisms is now routinely performed using Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). Swinecheck® PRM qPCR is a real-time RT-PCR assay intended to detect Influenza A virus, M. hyopneumoniae, M. hyorhinis and Glaeserella parasuis in the same reaction with a high sensitivity.
SUMMARY AND EXPLANATION:Swinecheck® PRM qPCR contains FAM, VIC, ABY and JUN labeled probe for the specific identification and quantification of Influenza A virus, M. hyopneumoniae, M. hyorhinis and G. parasuis respectively. This kit provides every component of the qPCR reaction (buffers, enzymes, dNTPs, specific primers and probes for the pathogen and an endogenous amplification control). Influenza A virus, M. hyopneumoniae, M. hyorhinis and G. parasuis genome amplification will be detected through FAM, VIC, ABY/TAMRA and JUN/ROX channel respectively. This kit can also identify false negative results by measuring the Endogenous Amplification Control (EAC) fluorescent signal through CY5 channel. A synthetic Positive Control is provided for relative and absolute quantification.
