Symmetric B+T is a lateral flow test for the detection of β-lactams and Tetracyclines in raw cow, sheep, and goat milk, pasteurized milk and milk powder. It is developed and manufactured to safely test EU MRLs.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
Antibiotics are widely used drugs for the treatment and prevention of different animal diseases such as mastitis and other microbial infections. After the treatment, an amount of antibiotic residues remain biologically active and unaltered in animal’s milk. There is a significant risk in consumption of the antibiotic residues as they may cause allergic reactions, carcinogenicity, mutagenicity, hepatoxicity and the development of antibiotic resistance. The maximum concentration of a drug that is permitted by regulations and is not dangerous for human consumption is referred to as Maximum Residue Limit (MRL). Symmetric B+T lateral flow test detects two classes of antibiotics in milk: β-lactams and tetracyclines
