Mycoplasmopsis synoviae (formerly Mycoplasma synoviae) is a species of bacteria in the genus Mycoplasmopsis, characterized for the lack of a cell wall around its cell membrane. Mycoplasmopsis synoviae causes disease in the joints, bones, and respiratory system of birds. It is of economic relevance for the poultry industry because the infection can cause a drop in egg production. Transmission occurs both vertically and horizontally.
