With a broad spectrum of hosts, including diverse species of wild birds and mammals, these mites can also infest humans, leading to gamasoidosis. Rapid population growth of these mites can result in anemia, particularly impacting young birds within affected poultry flocks. Furthermore, their role as potential vectors extends to diseases such as salmonellosis, avian spirochaetosis, and Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, indirectly influencing the overall health of avian populations.
