The Real Time PCR detection Kit Clavibacter spp. comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Clavibacter spp. detection by using qPCR.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
Clavibacter species are aerobic, Gram-positive bacteria belonging to the Microbacteriaceae family. They are known phytopathogens, primarily affecting a wide range of economically important crops, including tomato, potato, and maize. C. michiganensis causes bacterial canker in tomato, leading to symptoms such as wilting, cankers, and vascular discolouration. C. sepedonicus is the causative agent of bacterial ring rot in potato, resulting in symptoms such as wilting, chlorosis, vascular discolouration, and decay of the tuber’s vascular ring. C. nebraskensis is the etiological agent of Goss’s bacterial wilt and blight in maize, which causes water-soaked lesions with dark, freckle-like spots, wilting, and systemic vascular discolouration. Transmission occurs mainly through infected seeds, contaminated tools, and mechanical injury, facilitating rapid spread under favourable environmental conditions. These pathogens are globally distributed and represent a significant threat to agriculture due to their persistence in plant debris and seeds.
