The Real Time PCR detection Kit Brucella melitensis comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Brucella melitensis detection by using qPCR.

GENERAL INFORMATION:Brucella melitensis is a Gram-negative coccobacillus bacterium from the Brucellaceae family. This bacterium, along with Brucella ovis, causes ovine brucellosis. It infects sheep, cattle, and sometimes humans, and can be transmitted by the stable fly (Stomoxys calcitrans) or by the consumption of unpasteurized milk products and, rarely, meat products. Unlike B. ovis, B. melitensis is zoonotic, causing Malta fever or localized brucellosis in humans. In animals, it causes severe inflammation of the epididymis, leading to the formation of spermatoceles and fibrinous adhesions, a condition known as ovine brucellosis, which is a reportable disease in some countries. It also induces epididymitis in cattle and other reproductive diseases such as orchitis, mastitis, and abortions. It is highly unlikely, but large quantities, greater than 1E+06 copies, of B. abortus, B. suis, or B. canis could result in an amplification signal with a Ct value greater than 35.
