GENERAL INFORMATION:Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) are organisms whose genetic material has been altered through genetic engineering techniques. They are commonly used in agriculture to confer traits such as resistance to pests, diseases and herbicides. One essential component in many genetically modified crops is the CP4 EPSPS protein, derived from the bacterium Agrobacterium strain CP4. The expression of the CP4 EPSPS protein provides plants with resistance to glyphosate-based herbicides like Roundup.
