The Real Time PCR detection Kit Streptococcus pyogenes comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Streptococcus pyogenes detection by using qPCR.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
Streptococcus pyogenes is a species of Gram-positive, aerotolerant bacteria in the genus Streptococcus. These bacteria are extracellular and made up of non-motile and non-sporing cocci (round cells) that tend to link in chains. They are clinically significant to humans, as they are part of the skin microbiota, occasionally causing Group A streptococcal infections. When grown on blood agar, they produce small zones of beta-haemolysis, a complete destruction of red blood cells. S. pyogenes typically colonizes the throat, genital mucosa, rectum, and skin. Transmission occurs through inhalation of respiratory droplets, skin contact, contact with contaminated objects, surfaces or dust or, less commonly, transmission through food. This bacterium can cause diseases like streptococcal pharyngitis, rheumatic fever, rheumatic heart disease, and scarlet fever.
