Microcystins Dipstick Test Kit (QuikLyse™) – Recreational Water
The Microcystins Dipstick Test Kit (QuikLyse™) is a rapid screening test for the qualitative detection of microcystins in recreational water, including lakes, rivers, beaches and natural swimming areas (fresh water samples only) .
Microcystins are cyanobacterial toxins produced by several genera of blue-green algae and are widely found in freshwater environments. Microcystin-LR is one of the most common variants, and exposure may occur through the ingestion of contaminated water during recreational activities. These toxins can affect liver function and inhibit serine/threonine protein phosphatases, potentially posing a significant risk to human and animal health.
The integrated QuikLyse™ technology simplifies sample preparation and enables rapid testing without the need for complex laboratory equipment. This makes the dipstick format particularly suitable for on-site screening and routine monitoring of recreational waters, supporting rapid assessment of potential cyanobacterial toxin contamination.
