Domoic Acid (ASP) ELISA Kit (Onsite Technologies)
The Domoic Acid (ASP) ELISA Kit is designed for the detection and quantification of domoic acid, the neurotoxin responsible for amnesic shellfish poisoning (ASP), in water and shellfish samples.
Domoic acid is produced primarily by the diatom Pseudo-nitzschia multiseries and other related diatom species. Its presence in shellfish has been associated with harmful algal blooms worldwide. Human exposure to contaminated shellfish can cause dose-dependent gastrointestinal and neurological effects characteristic of amnesic shellfish poisoning.
The Onsite Technologies version is designed to support on-site testing, providing a practical solution for analysis outside a traditional laboratory environment. The Domoic Acid ELISA requires only a few millilitres of sample and can be completed in less than 2 hours, allowing rapid monitoring of samples for the presence of domoic acid.
The kit is suitable for laboratories and field applications involved in food safety, shellfish monitoring, marine environmental surveillance and harmful algal bloom assessment.
