DNAnimal Ident Donkey (LR)
Real-time PCR detection of donkey (Equus asinus) DNA in animal-derived samples.
This kit provides the qualitative detection of donkey DNA in food and feed samples from which DNA of sufficient quality and quantity has been extracted. The assay does not include an internal positive control (IPC) and specifically targets a mitochondrial DNA sequence unique to donkey. Horse DNA is not detected; however, DNA from mule and hinny may produce positive results due to their donkey genetic background.
The assay is based on real-time PCR using species-specific primers and TaqMan™ probes, providing high sensitivity, excellent specificity and rapid, reliable detection, even in highly processed food and feed samples where DNA fragmentation may have occurred. It is suitable for species authentication, food fraud investigations and regulatory compliance testing.
