Description
Brevetoxin (NSP) ELISA Kit
The Brevetoxin (NSP) ELISA Kit is designed for the detection and quantification of brevetoxins (PbTxs), a group of potent polyether toxins responsible for neurotoxic shellfish poisoning (NSP), in water and shellfish samples.

Brevetoxins are primarily produced by the dinoflagellate Karenia brevis, which is associated with harmful algal blooms (HABs), commonly known as red tides. These toxins can affect fish, marine mammals, birds and humans, and contamination of shellfish has been associated with the occurrence of brevetoxin-producing algal blooms in several regions worldwide.

Human exposure to brevetoxins can occur through the consumption of contaminated shellfish and may result in a range of gastrointestinal and neurological symptoms. Monitoring brevetoxins is therefore an important component of marine toxin surveillance and food safety programmes, particularly in areas affected by harmful algal blooms.

The Brevetoxin ELISA provides a rapid and practical solution for routine monitoring of brevetoxins. The assay can be performed in less than 2 hours and requires only a few millilitres of sample, allowing the analysis of up to 42 samples in duplicate.

The kit is suitable for laboratories involved in food safety, marine environmental monitoring, shellfish safety and harmful algal bloom surveillance.

Format: ELISA plate, 96 wells.
Capacity: Up to 42 samples in duplicate.
