ELISA TEST Seneca Valley Virus (SVA) Senecavirus A Swinecheck

Immunoenzymatic assay for the detection of antibodies against Senecavirus A (SVA), also called Seneca Valley Virus (SVV) in porcine serum

DESCRIPTION:
This kit is based on an immunoenzymatic assay for the detection of antibodies against Senecavirus A (SVA), also called Seneca Valley Virus (SVV) in porcine serum.

SUMMARY AND EXPLANATION:
Senecavirus A (SVA) belongs to the same family, Picornaviridae, as foot and mouth disease virus (FMDV) and swine vesicular disease virus (SVDV). SVA was first isolated as a contaminant in cell culture media in 2002. Subsequently it was isolated in the USA from pigs with lameness and vesicular lesions. More recently it was isolated in Brazil and USA from pigs with vesicular diseases and piglets with systemic disease. The virus has also been reported in Canada and China. Since SVA causes lesions similar to FMDV, it is considered an important differential diagnosis and therefore diagnostic assays for SVA are routinely carried out on samples from pigs with vesicular lesions or piglets with systemic disease.
The present assay was developed to have a more convenient assay than the virus neutralization test (VNT) and the immunofluorescence antibody test (IFAT) in order to detect SVA antibodies in serum samples and facilitate serological surveillance of SVA infections.

CHARACTERISTICS:
- Test per kit: up to 192 samples
- Blocking ELISA
- Results within less than 2.5 hours
