This is an immunoenzymatic assay for the detection of antibodies against Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae serotypes 1, 9, 11 in porcine serum.
Porcine pleuropneumonia (PP) remains an important swine respiratory disease that can result in considerable economic losses. PP is caused by Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae (APP) which comprises 15 serotypes with variable virulence. Serological testing is a major diagnostic tool to detect infected herds. As the virulence of the APP strains varies significantly, serological testing is usually based on serogroup specific tests such LC-LPS ELISA. Screening tests able to simultaneously detect antibodies against several serogroups can simplify testing and reduce testing costs.
This is the case of mix-ELISA using combinations of antigens (mix-ELISA). In case of positive or suspect reactions, samples can be further examined using relevant serotype specific tests.
