Description
qPCR kit for the detection of Mycobacterium avium sbsp paratuberculosis in tissues and feces of cattle
DESCRIPTION:
This is a qPCR assay for the detection of Mycobacterium avium ssp paratuberculosis (Map) genome in bovine sample.
SUMMARY AND EXPLANATION:
Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP) is the etiologic agent of paratuberculosis (Johne’s diseases). MAP infects several animal species. However the disease especially affects ruminants (e.g. cattle, goat, sheep). In these species clinical signs consist in progressive weight loss, chronic diarrhea (especially in cattle), reduced milk production, infertility, and eventually death. The diagnosis of MAP infections relies on the detection of the organism in feces or specific antibodies in serum or milk. Serological testing has a poor sensitivity, resulting in false negatives especially in the early stages of the disease. Fecal culture is considered the gold standard. However the method is particularly time-consuming (6–8 weeks). PCR methods have been recently developed. Their sensitivity is similar to that of fecal culture whereas turnaround time is far shorter.
CHARACTERISTICS:
- Test per kit: 50 samples
- qPCR Results within two hours

Real Time PCR Detection Kit Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis
Detection test kit of Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis (MAP) by using qPCR. Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis (MAP) is the causative agent of Johne’s disease, which affects ruminants such as cattle, and is also perhaps responsible for Crohn’s disease in humans. Recent studies have shown that MAP present in milk can survive pasteurization, which has raised human health concerns.
